The Magic of Water

Abundance is a beautiful thing. It refers to life in all its fullness. Through my work as an energy healer, particularly as a certified Body Code practitioner, I’ve assisted many people release blocks that were impacting on their ability to live their life with the feeling of joy and freedom.

One particular block that has been showing up recently is dehydration! This can come as a surprise to people who consciously consume water on a daily basis. And what’s the issue if you don’t feel thirsty?

Did you know that dehydration actually increases in the winter months?

In cold weather, the body’s thirst response diminishes by up to 40%, even when you are dehydrated. The reason you are less thirsty is that your blood vessels constrict when you are cold and this prevents blood from flowing to your hands and feet. Dehydration is more of a threat in the winter because you don’t notice the fluids leaving your bodies. That, combined with decreased thirst, can bring on dehydration more quickly than you’d think.

Water is energy!

For water to be of any benefit to the physical body it needs to be absorbed. Just as water is not always absorbed by the earth’s surface, water, particularly tap water, is not always absorbed by the body. There can be underlying energetic imbalances preventing your cells from absorbing the water you are drinking, and these can be discovered in an energy healing session with me using the Body Code.

Water is essential to life!

In some organisms, up to 90% of their body weight comes from water. For the human adult body, it is up to 60%. According to H.H Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, our essential organs all contain a high percentage of water:

  • the brain and heart about 73% water

  • the lungs about 83% water

  • the skin about 64% water, and

  • the muscles and kidneys about 79% water

Water does so much more than simply hydrate us!

It assists in the body’s ability to use valuable nutrients, minerals and chemicals in biological processes. Did you know that a fluid loss of 1% -3% can impair energy levels and mood, and lead to major reductions in memory and brain performance?

5 Tips for Maintaining Ideal Hydration

1. When you are feeling hungry, drink water.

It is common for the thirst impulse to be mistaken for hunger. Know that true hunger will not be satisfied by water.

2. Check the toilet.

Keep an eye on what’s coming out. The colour of your urine is a good indicator of the level of hydration. The more intense the yellow colour, the more your body is in need of hydrating.

3. Drink water that tastes great.

Add some natural flavours to water and add some health benefits as well. Here are some ideas:-

a) Ginger – soak some slices of ginger in hot water and then add ice cubes. Ginger can fight colds, improve appetite and digestion, alleviate constipation and increase energy.

b) Strawberry – soak some strawberry slices in a jug of water. Strawberry is a great fruit to fight heart-related problems. It is rich in anti-oxidants which reduce ageing, it also has anti-inflammatory properties. Strawberries also contain manganese that improves the health of the bones.

c) Orange – add couple of orange slices to a jug of chilled water and leave it aside for few hours. Oranges contain calcium, potassium, vitamin B complex, vitamin A and antioxidants. Oranges are also a rich source of vitamin C that fights infections.

d) Mango – add a few cubes of mango to a jug water and set aside. Mango cleanses the skin, reduces cholesterol, rich in vitamin A, improve immunity and digestion.

e) Cucumber – slice the cucumber and place the slices into a jug of water. Cucumber can prevent cancer, control blood pressure, improve skin and nail health, reduce cholesterol and also act as a diuretic.
f) Apples – slice a fresh juicy apple and add the slices to a jug of water. Apples can cut your chances of developing type 2diabetes, reduce cholesterol, detoxify liver, boost immune system and prevents the formation of gall stones.

4. Consider drinking coconut water.

Coconut water contains electrolytes including potassium, magnesium and sodium making it the perfect beverage to restore hydration lost after exercising. It can be incredibly refreshing on hot days. The coconut water in young coconuts contains fibre and Vitamin C. Drink plain coconut water and don’t substitute it entirely for water.

5. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

Some of the fruits and vegetables with the highest water content include watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, cucumber, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, and spinach. Each of these fruits and veggies contain at least 90% water.

Water is a critical part of life!

A human can survive about three days without water. Your body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because your body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it’s important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water.
