The Magic In A Gift Of Love From You To You

Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it

The magic in a gift of love from you to you

So much time, and sometimes money, is often spent in the process of giving whether it be a present, a meal, a conversation, or even your presence. According to the Oxford Dictionary ...

‘a gift is a thing given willingly to someone without payment; a present’.

This definition implies that someone else is involved in the act of giving. My question to you is, when was the last time you gave a gift to the most important person in your life ... YOU?

You'll never find peace

My Top 5 Gift Ideas To Give Yourself

1. Give Yourself a Hug❣

Wrapping your arms around yourself provides comfort and a feeling of safety. The contact you have with your own skin sends a message to your parasympathetic nervous system that you are there for you, and that everything is okay. It is a beautiful way to show yourself some compassion. Hugging releases the hormone, Oxytocin. Sometimes called the “cuddle hormone”, Oxytocin is naturally produced when hugging takes place. An increase in the amount of Oxytocin within the body is also associated with better heart health.

2. Give Yourself Some of Mother Earth’s Love❣

Head outside for a little bit of love from Mother Earth. Find a patch of grass to lie on, or beach to walk along. Spending time outside can really energise you. According to Stephen T. Sinatra, M.D., co-author of the book Earthing when bare skin coming into contact with the earth’s natural surface “it can restore and stabilise the bio-electrical circuitry that governs your physiology and organs, harmonise your basic biological rhythms, boost self-healing mechanisms, reduce inflammation and pain, and improve your sleep and feeling of calmness. When these things happen, you feel better in a big way”

Love the life you live, live the life you love

3. Give Yourself More Water❣

Your body needs water! According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery containing 31%.

Current Australian dietary guidelines recommend drinking “plenty” of water every day but they don’t state an explicit amount. The Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand provides more specific advice based on the average weight of adult women and men. Their recommended daily water intake is 2.1 litres (8 glasses) for women and 2.6 litres (10 glasses) for men. Consuming the right amount of water per day can boost energy, maintain brain function, regulate digestion and assist weight loss and maintenance. It will make you feel great!

4. Give Yourself Some You Time❣

Spend some time alone today, doing something that fills you. Have a date with yourself. Whether it be a visit to the art gallery, going to the movies, a picnic on the beach, breakfast at your favourite café, or losing yourself in your favourite hobby, alone time strengthens the connection with yourself. Get to know yourself better and allow yourself to flourish.

The one thing that you have

5. Give Yourself a Break❣

“Treating oneself kindly leads people to understand and experience the reality that their troubles are part of the human condition,” says University of Texas at Austin educational psychology associate professor Kristin Neff, who has published a book based on her research on self-compassion called Self-Compassion: The Proven Power Behind Being Kind To Yourself, In her book, Neff describes self-compassion as the recognition ‘that we are all imperfect’. Traditional Japanese aesthetics refer to the acceptance of beauty that is found within imperfection as 'wabi sabi'. The message here is simple. Appreciate the beauty that is within the naturally imperfect you.

When we give ourselves a gift of love,

we are showing the importance of us to ourselves.

When you give yourself a gift of love, you are actively engaging in the most important relationship in your life ... the relationship between you and yourself. I believe the ability to show yourself how important you are to yourself is the foundation on which every other relationship you have will be built.

It all begins with you.
